The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is the helpline of our Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) when it comes to almost all concerns. As a matter of fact, they’ve received note from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) that they are the main go-to of OFWs with help for cultural services, legal matters, social security concerns, employment remittances, and etc.
Just recently, OWWA stated that they were successful in launching a hotline number that Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) can reach in the event that they have any type of query or concern they need to make the OWWA aware of.
What is OWWA hotline?
If you have an OFW family member, friend, or relative, you can make them aware that the hotline for the OWWA is 1348. By dialing this number, they will be able to successfully reach OWWA. As a matter of fact, this hotline is available 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week.
The hotline will be manned accordingly in order to be able to provide appropriate service to OFWs.
Silvestre Bello III, OWWA Board of Trustees Chair and Department of Labor Secretary, said that this hotline was innovated mainly to OFWs who need help as the OWWA is the one who stands as the government of overseas workers.
With the Hotline 1348, clients can easily reach the OWWA 24/7 Operations Center that is responsible for monitoring and endorsing OFW-related concerns to appropriate OWWA offices and/or government agencies for immediate action. This is our way of adhering to President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s mandate to improve government programs and services for our OFWs and their families.”
As per the department, it’s also open during holidays and weekends. If a person is in Metro Manila, they just need to dial 1348 using any landline service or their mobile phones.
However, if the person who wants to inquire, complain, or to give attention to OWWA is outside the Metro, they need to dial (02) 1348. Should the person be outside the country, they need to dial both the country and the area code; it will turn out to be (0632)-1348.
That’s just how easy it is to give contact to OWWA if you have any sort of problem, concern, or even just a simple question!
Hans Leo J. Cacdac, the OWWA Administrator, said that their main goal is to be able to give both the OFWs and their family members a chance to be able to be in contact with OWWA in the easiest ways possible.
We want the OFWs, their families, and the public to be able to connect with OWWA with as much ease as possible. Thus, our Hotline 1348 is staffed by dedicated live agents trained to respond to calls, provide information, and gather requests for assistance from our clients.”
The OWWA hotline center
It’s basically a call center who will be manned by people with knowledge on the welfare of OFWs, with what benefits they have, and people who have power to direct requests to be able to assist OFWs and clients who will be needing help with almost anything regarding their welfare overseas.
So, even the families of the OFWs would have the capability to contact OWWA for their family member/s abroad. In fact, even the public will have this access.
Other perks of OWWA
If you thought that the utility stops there, think again. To add to this Hotline 1348, Smart Communications will also be giving a 30-minute free Wi-Fi capability to OFWs who will be visiting, transacting, and inquiring within the OWWA offices. Smart Communications, which is a subsidiary company of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT), will be providing these services in OWWA offices.
Do you need any assistance from the OWWA department? Do you know any Filipino worker who is currently overseas who might need any type of assistance from them? Or do you have inquiries as to how being an OFW would be beneficial? Worry not because the Hotline 1348 is here and will be of appropriate assistance not just to OFWs but also to the public as well.
