A few years back, the Manila Light Rail Transit and Manila Metro Rail Transit System (LRT/MRT), innovated on a beep card that would allow passengers to utilize it in the system as an alternative to purchasing tickets on their every trip. Moreover, the agency had made this tap-and-go system for customers and passengers to avoid the hassle of long lines; for them to utilize it other ways; and for overall convenience of passengers. However, many people do not know but there actually are other beep card uses you can take advantage of for easier, faster, and more convenient transactions.

Especially in your everyday commute, going cashless is not only convenient, it’s also safer for your everyday travel. It can accommodate and keep you safe when traveling and you don’t need to worry about coins and change whenever you transact.

Toll fees and charges

The beep card would be very much useful if you drive along busy expressways often. As a matter of fact, I’m pretty sure you’re aware of how the lines are long and how these toll gates could get busy. However, other beep card uses would include you being able to pay toll gates without fumbling for coins. With the beep card, you can pay your toll fees!

How can I pay toll gates using my beep card?

You will see signs at toll gates in Coastal Road, CAVITEX, SCTEX, and NLEX. Once you’re there, go along the sign that would display BEEP and pay your toll fees.

Purchase food at fast food joints

If you think that you can only use your beep card for transportation, think again. Other beep card uses actually include you being able to purchase food at fast food joints. However, it’s not honored and acknowledged in all fast food joints. Here’s a list of where you can use your beep card for food:

Use your beep card to pay for your bus fares

Yes, you can actually use your beep card to pay for your transport fares when riding a bus. Just like Hong Kong and Singapore’s bus systems, other beep card uses include you paying for your bus fare.

However, not all bus lines accept beep card payments. There are selected bus lines which you can ride on in order for you to pay using your beep card. Here’s a list of bus lines and their routes:

  • U.P. Town Center going to Glorietta III (back and forth)
  • Glorietta III to Lake Front (back and forth)

Froehlich P2P Buses

  • SM North EDSA going to Glorietta V (back and forth)
  • Glorietta V going to Trinoma (back and forth)
  • SM Megamall going to SM North EDSA (back and forth)

HM Transport Buses

  • Baclaran to NAIA Terminal 3 (Airport route)
  • Alabang Town Center (ATC) going to Market! Market! (P2P)

RRCG P2P Buses

  • SM City Masinag to Greenbelt V (back and forth)
  • Alabang Town Center (ATC) going to Greenbelt I and Ayala Malls the 30th (back and forth)

Convenience stores purchases

Yes, just like Hong Kong’s octopus card, you can use your beep card to purchase items in convenience stores. Although it’s not yet inculcated in all of the systems yet, there are certain convenience stores and branches where you can purchase items in convenience stores using your beep card.

Other than the fact that you can use your beep card for convenience store purchases, you can also reload it in some convenience store branches. You would know that a convenience store would accept beep card payments if they have a beep logo with a card reader at the counter.

So which convenience stores accept beep cards as payments?

All Family Mart and Circle K branchs in Metro Manila would accept your beep card for payments. In addition to that, 7-Eleven branches in Net Cube BGC, Buendia Makati, Columbia Tower Mandaluyong, McKinley Hill BGC, and BSA Tower Makati would accept them as well.

Purchase movie tickets

No need for you to have cash on-hand if you’re planning to go to the movies. Got your beep card? We got you covered. However, not all cinemas have adapted to his, yet but Robinsons Movieworld does.

Tap your beep card to readers to purchase Robinsons Movieworld tickets in either of the following Robinsons branches:

  • Metro East
  • Magnolia
  • Manila
  • Forum
  • Galleria

As you noticed, these Robinsons Malls are accessible to LRT and MRT stations. This was strategically placed for the convenience of train passengers.

Accessories and clothing

Lat but definitely not the least when it comes to other beep card uses you can do would be shopping for clothes and accessories. Although major brands that you know is not accepting Beep transactions yet, Worship Generation, a Christian merchandise brand has partnered up with Beep for their transactions.

All you have to do is to proceed to their stores, bring your Beep card with you and push witha transaction without using cash by tapping your Beep card to their readers.

Some countries are currently utilizing and maximizing cashless transactions using centralized systems like Hong Kong’s octopus card and Singapore’s EZ-Link card. The Philippines is currently trying to adapt that for the betterment of services and for the convenience of the people who are daily using these services. Not only would be convenience, it might also  be cheaper because the Beep company might impose discounts and promos when using the Beep card for your transactions.
