How to Apply Metrobank Account for Online Banking

Online banking is now considered to be one of the most common, easiest, and most convenient forms of banking. Just like other banks that are common to us Filipinos, Metrobank also offers online banking. In this article, we are going to give you a walkthrough on how you can apply your Metrobank account for online banking.


MetrobankDirect Retail is the online banking service that Metrobank has. In order for your account to be successfully part of the online banking scheme, you need to enroll your account here. You do not have to worry because application for this feature is 100% FREE.

Before heading on to the process of how to apply your account for online banking, let me first tell you what MetrobanDirect can do for you:

  • Transfer funds
  • Reorder checkbooks
  • Pay your utility bills
  • View and see your account balance/s

As you can see, banking was never made easy especially with the Metrobank online banking services. With just one click of a mouse and an internet connection, you can perform banking activities without breaking a sweat.

It is mandatory for you to have an account with Metrobank and if it’s your first time, you need to ensure that you are already equipped with the ability to process banking services online. You have two (2) ways to do this:

  • Personal appearance at a Metrobank branch
  • Enroll Online

If you personally proceed to any Metrobank branch, an officer will give you an enrollment form that you need to fill up. You will need to create a unique customer ID. You will be asked to input your active email address as well. After successfully filling out the form, you will be given an initial password that you are to use when you log-in to MetrobankDirect.

Within 2-3 days, you will receive a confirmation letter (note that the email address where it will be sent is the email address you put in the application form). To access your account, go to the Metrobank website which is www.metrobank.com.ph and click on the Personal tab which can be seen at the topmost right part of the page. You will be then redirected to a new page which is www.personal.metrobankdirect.com. Once you get redirected, fill out the Customer ID and the initial password that was sent on the confirmation email. You can now enjoy online banking with MetrobankDirect.

If you apply online however, it is probably the easier way because you don’t have to go to a branch to have it activated.

If you apply online, go to www.personal.metrobankdirect.com and click “Sign up Now!” You will be asked to choose what type of card to enroll (either ATM or Credit Card) and you are to choose ATM Card. Fill out the enrollment form and the following are the things you need to take note of:

  • USER ID: Using your name can make it easy for hackers to go into your account and mess it up
  • ATM PIN: This is the PIN that you use whenever you try to go to ATMs to withdraw or to inquire balance
  • ATM Card Number: This is the number that you can see at the front of the card. Be sure to include the three zeros (000) at the end of your 16-digit ATM card number
  • Mobile Number: Your cellphone number
  • Cardholder’s Name: Your name but be sure to include your First Name, Middle Name, and Last Name

Upon finishing the form, you will receive a confirmation email that will instruct you to click the link to successfully finish the application.
