We are now drawn into the world of advancements and we cannot surely admit that technology eats up a lot of time in our everyday lives. I am pretty sure you want shortcuts into certain things and that even though you gather everything you know, you still won’t come up with one. However, there are a few tricks you can learn to add in your arsenal to fully maximize the time you spend in your computers. Here are a few tips and tricks you should know.

Delete large files/unused files easily

I am pretty certain that one of the problems almost everyone has is the memory they have; they have big memory but because of a project 2 years ago they had to download files that would eat up a lot of space and you did not have a chance to delete it because it became hidden. WinDirStat (Windows Directory Statistics) is a handy tool that you can use to easily find files that eat up most space on your drive and from there you can delete them and open up more storage space. You can also delete files you are not using anymore.

Minimize everything in less than a second

We all experienced opening a lot of windows, a lot of tabs and you want to go to the desktop to grab one program or something, right? By pressing Windows + D, you can save the time by clicking on all windows’ minimize buttons each.

Lock your computer in less than a second

A lot of us get annoyed when something or someone goes into our computer and post things online or download malicious content in our systems. Windows + L button allows you to lock your computer when you get off of your chairs and is performed better when you assign a password to your computer.

The “Shift” power

We always need to send a file to some place else and the basic Send to tool allows you to do that. However, by holding down Shift as you right-click an item, more options will be shown to you. Hold down the shift key as you right click an item to see more options as to where you can directly move a file in your computer.

Go back in time

Deleted some file or program accidentally? There is also an undo button for that! Like in typing, pressing Ctrl + Z will undo the last thing you have done. When you accidentally erase something as well, you can do that to take what you have done last and correct it.

Close the current tab in less than a second

You can save time by hovering over that “x” button to close a tab. You can close it easily by pressing Ctrl + W and the current window will close.

Windows “God mode” folder

It is a myth but it is now proven; you can enter Windows’ God mode which will let you tweak everything in your pc from your background to setting up a VPN. To enter this mode, create a new folder with the exact name: God Mode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}. After doing so, the folder icon will change into a control panel one and you can change all kinds of settings. *Note do not use this on Windows Vista64-bit because it is said that it will cause a reboot loop (boot loop).

Hasten your startup

One reason why your startup is slow is because of the programs that open when you start your computer. Reducing this can greatly add up to the speed of your computer. Go to the run mode by pressing Windows + R and type “msconfig.” A small window will pop-up and you must select the startup tab. From here you can change the programs that open when you start your computer. Windows 8 has moved this functionality into the task manager so don’t be confused if you do not find it.

These tricks can surely save time and can absolutely make you feel like you are a computer virtuoso. There are a lot of things you can do, these are just little pieces of the big puzzle. Stay tuned to know more about your computer and how you can benefit from it.
