Renewal of BIR Registration Certificate, Mayor’s Permit, and Barangay Permit

For business owners, it is essential that they possess a certificate granted by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) to validate that that entity is lawfully in accordance to the government’s requirement of tax.  Without it, they are subject to crime and indecency to which where they can be reprimanded.  Just like any other document, this certificate also expires and therefore, these shall be renewed.  In this article, we are going to teach you how to renew your registration to the BIR.


First and foremost, if you are to renew your BIR Certificate, might as well renew other business permits as well such as the Barangay Permit and the Mayor’s Permit. 

Barangay Permit

A renewed Barangay Permit is a necessary requirement in renewing your BIR Certificate.  So to cut things short, here is how you can renew your Barangay Clearance.

The requirements you will need for this process are:

Procedure:

  1. Proceed to the barangay hall and acquire a renewal form. Duly accomplish the form and submit it along with the requirements at the division where they issue Barangay Permits.
  2. Corrections may come along in which case you may have to acknowledge and correct it. IF not, then you will be asked to pay the corresponding fees.
  3. Get the receipt and take note on the release date stamped on the receipt.

**It is just usually a day or two for it to be ready.

Mayor’s Permit

After you get your new Barangay Permit, you are now ready to renew your Mayor’s Permit which is also an essential in renewing your BIR Certificate.

The requirements you will need for this process are:

  • New Barangay Permit
  • Income statement from the previous year (audited or unaudited)
  • Original copy of the Mayor’s Permit from the previous year
  • Original copy of the Official Receipt from the previous year (Mayor’s permit))
  • Cedula
  • Local Insurance
  • Contract of Lease

Procedure:


  1. Acquire a copy of the renewal form at Business Permits and Licensing Offices at the municipal hall from which your business is operating. Duly accomplish the form and submit it along with the requirements.
  2. If there are no corrections, you will be directed to pay for the necessary fees.
  3. Pay for the fees which are investigated by the assessor at the City Treasurer’s Office.
  4. After it is processed, you will be handed a copy of payment (receipt or proof of payment). This will bear when you can claim your renewed Mayor’s Permit
  5. Claim your new Mayor’s Permit as indicated on the proof of payment that was given to you at the treasurer’s office.

**It usually takes about 1-2 weeks depending on the volume of renewals.

BIR Registration Certificate

After taking care of the Barangay Permit and the Mayor’s Permit, you can now then proceed with the renewal of your BIR Registration Certificate.  Be aware that failure to comply with this can lead to penalties which range from P5, 000.00 – P20, 000.00.  It is just right that you renew it accordingly.

***The requirement for BIR Registration Certificate is the Duly accomplished BIR Payment Form 0605 which can be downloaded from the BIR website.

Procedure:

  1. Duly accomplish the form and make sure that you do not incur errors or wrong information because it can affect the process.
  2. Proceed to your Revenue District Office (RDO) and have the officer assess your requirement. If you are unaware of your RDO, you need to check it online because they are strict with this.
  3. Pay the necessary fees (P500. 00) at any bank that is accredited to BIR.

Renewing your business permits along with your BIR Registration can be a bit of a hassle.  But think of it, failure to comply with this can cause you to pay penalties you can never imagine.  So what you need to do is to be aware of the dates of expiration to avoid complications that can affect your business or worse, that can dissolve it.  Follow these steps to ensure proper processes and steps in renewing your business permits and certificates.
