What is the cause of 503 Service Unavailable Error?

Most of the time, the cause of this error is mainly because the server was not successful in fishing the internet for it to host the website.  It is a server-side error which is mostly not caused by anything on your end.

But sometimes, there are more detailed prompts that have information as to whether why you came across that type of message.  Some of these are:

  • 0 Application Pool Unavailable
  • 2 Concurrent Request Limit Exceeded
  • 3 ASP.NET queue full

But there certainly are some instances when your network is the problem so…

How can you fix the 503 Service Unavailable Error?

Solution 1. You can restart your modem and your router together with your computer or your device that received the error. This is done and is most effective when you encounter the “Service Unavailable – DNS Failure”

While most of the time, the fault of the error is on the website’s side, it is still possible that there is a certain issue with the DNS server on your computer or your router which a simple restart of both can cure the error.

Solution 2. Refresh or Retry loading the page by clicking

If the Error 503 appears when you are trying to make an online purchase, please be reminded that multiple attempts to checkout can backfire to multiple attempts of being charged too.  This is done because of the security of online stores so they can avoid fraudsters.

Solution 3. Try and come back for a few minutes. Close the page and let it rest for a good 10 minutes before trying it back again.

This error is very known in big websites because of the traffic and the number of visitors simultaneously.  To be honest and frank, waiting for it is probably the best type of fix because sometimes, there is just too many visitors.  As more visitors leave the page, the odds of you being successful in loading it increases.

Servers are not perfect, you know and sometimes, they just give up because of being used every single day and because a lot of people are trying to access them.  Encountering this error is not actually a bad thing because you know that what you are about to open is something that many people are trying to open as well.  Have you encountered this type of error before?  What things have you done so that you can have this error fixed on your end?
