Singapore, one of the most-advanced countries in the world are in need of Filipino workers. Friday, September 22, 2017, Antonio Morales, Philippine Ambassador to Singapore, said that they are looking for aircraft mechanics and automotive specialists. Why? Because their population is aging. Furthermore, they have over 6, 000 job vacancies. These job vacancies touch the aviation industry, tourism, and caregivers. However, that’s not just it.

Before we get to that, let’s first learn about Singapore’s history with Filipinos. As of the moment, Singapore houses almost 180, 000 OFWs. In estimation, 60% of them work in corporate, professional jobs while 40% are domestic workers.

Why do Filipinos choose Singapore over other Western countries?

Singapore is known to be one of the highest-paying countries in the world. In fact, I know a lot of Filipinos that chose to work in Singapore than the United States. What do you think are there reasons besides the fact that the country pays well? It’s just an Asian country meaning, flying back and forth won’t be much of a hassle. A one-way flight from and to Singapore won’t require you to sit in the plane for 5 hours. Thus, when a worker feels homesick, he can easily fly back to the Philippines.

The POEA sent job orders to concretely give Filipinos an idea on what available jobs are there. This is for September 2017 which is the latest.

NOTE: Recruitment agencies information may change without notice. So what’s the best thing to do? Inquire; ask; talk to people about it. Gather all the knowledge you possibly can for a job in Singapore.
